24 July 2008 Dr Mindaugas Kiškis delivered delivered a speech "Data Retention: Recent Legislation in Lithunia"
 
3 March 2008 Ruling the Supreme Court in the case LATGAA v. Trajektorija (3K-3-4/2008) upheld the extended copyright levies on all blank media introduced to Lithuania (regardless of whether it was imported from outside of the EU, or introduced from the other EU country, and irrespective of the purpose for which the media is intended or used).

17 January 2008 - implementation of the Data Retention Directive 2006/24/EC in Lithuania - after a battle between the Parliament and the President of the Republics (see our 18 and 29 December 2007 notes) the new data retention rules were postponed indefinitely due to the parliament being unable to reach a compromise on compensating the communication service providers for data retention (the parliament, however, may have to return to this issue by the 15 September 2007 deadline set forth in the Directive 2006/24/EC).
