Internet Research and Innovation Institute (IRII) is an independent non-profit research NGO, which has been established on 1 March 2005 as a spin-off of the Mykolas Romeris University (Lithuania). IRII research focuses on the issues of cyberspace, intellectual property, innovation, technology transfer, e-business and e-government. Our purpose is to promote socio-economic benefits of the internet and innovation, contribute to international and regional scientific research, voice Lithuania in the "global village", and provide business and public institutions with consultancy on internet, e-government, intellectual property, innovation and technology transfer policies and legislation. Main functions and tasks of IRII are to monitor, research and analyze development of knowledge society in Lithuania and the new EU Member States, propagate ideas of open knowledge society, e-government and e-democracy, facilitate innovation and participation, pursue most favourable conditions for the socio-economic development enabled by ICT.IRII unites a team of prominent scientists, including prof. Rimantas Petrauskas, assoc. prof. Dr. Mindaugas Kiškis, Eglė Malinauskienė, Rasa Juciūtė, Austė Kiškienė, Mindaugas Krikščionaitis, acclaimed IT expert Vilma Misiukonienė, expert of social issues Dr. Gunaras Terbetas, patent attorney Dr. Vaclovas Kiškis, and others. IRII team is experienced in implementation of international scientific projects. This team has successfully participated in implementation of several EU level projects: eInclusion, eUser, eTen, eSkills, MeAC, five PHARE and Twinning projects in Lithuania (budget >100 000 EUR) and significant number of smaller projects. |
